Energy Monitoring Dashboard With Mesh Network
Using Home Assistant as a UI wrapper and predeveloped frameworks for energy tracking. I have set out to track my energy usage using a local mesh network (Zigbee). This helps inform my energy use and is a fun way to learn about mesh network, work with new and fun APIs, and inspire interesting automations in the rest of my smart home setup.
Monitoring daily electricity consumption during peak and off peak hours using an API for local carbon intensity.

Tracking my most energy intense individual devices to inform my decisions about when to use them based on the carbon usage of the grid at specific times.

Desired Improvements
- Integrate an automatic review of my gas transactions to calculate carbon emissions based on historical gas prices and car MPG, allowing for comparison with transit and e-bikes.
- Use this data to automate other functions and systems in the smart home to operate when energy is least carbon intense (more renewable source).
