MRNA Research With Monarch Migration

Research project at the University of Michigan focusing on MRNA and monarch migration.

This project explored the role of MRNA in monarch migration by inhibiting certain hormone production to determine its effect on monarch butterflies pre-migration, a state known as diapause. The research aimed to understand the underlying mechanisms behind this fascinating natural phenomenon. I worked under Dr. Andre Green to assist his research.

Did you know butterflies are actually covered in scales? It's important to handle their wings delicately as to not knock too many off. Here is a microscope view of a "print" of scales from a monarch's body.
